With the days growing colder and Christmas fast approaching, we chose to spend a cosy weekend indoors preparing for the festive season ahead. After a particularly long and testing year, we were more ready than ever to embrace the familiar seasonal comforts and traditions to get us into the Christmas spirit.
For us, fewer things are more festive than the smell of gingerbread spreading through the apartment whilst getting crafty with Christmas preparations.
“Christmas is a season not only of rejoicing but of reflection.”
– Winston Churchill
To express our sincere thanks for helping us to get through the year, we turned our crafty endeavours into making something special for each of our wonderful clients.
We set about creating a bespoke set of festive stationery especially for the occasion. Greetings cards were designed and handwritten expressing our warmest wishes and gratitude, gift tags with hand drawn illustrations were lovingly poured over for hours.
“Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!” –
Theodor Seuss Geisel- from How the Grinch Stole Christmas
“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”
– Will Ferrell, Elf
In a small bowl, we whisked together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves, before adding molasses, vanilla, and lemon zest, mixing until well blended. We placed 1 portion of the dough on a lightly floured surface, sprinkled flour over the dough and firmly rolled with a rolling pin. Now time for our favourite part; cutting out each cookie with our chosen festive cutter, stars of course..
